Heaveny Convalesce to Light State jumps around in time to keep you confused about what's going on. The idea was to keep the reader's mind moving, thus giving them the chance to feel as lost as the main character, Heaveny Convalesce. This book is definitely Sci-fi, but I try not to rely on it, hopefully coaxing the reader into believing there's a little more reality, but, without being too descriptive, it borders and, in later extensions, will continue to border on paranormal.
When the story takes off, it presents Heaveny in the modern day, which is actually the future, in some completely different world. He is living the last moments of his intelligent life, before he must undergo a procedure to erase his personality. Shortly, it opens into several times previous; one is his interrogation into a string of epic murders called the sweetheart murders which could possibly put him away forever, another puts him in his at home lab, slowly finishing his life's work and a third features an old friend, who is dismantling the machine in the nearly current modern day, catching up to Heaveny's own present as he battles with the possible sins written in the old murderers journal.
The machine is called The Light State Machine, which presents the idea of yet another possible state of existence; the state in which light exists. In Light State, one can think and act at the speed of light, or at least it's the idea Heaveny Convalesce and his missing colleagues would have us believe. We don't know the truth and it's going to take some exploring to figure it out.
"Run if you want, but your fate has been sealed."
Skyler is just a normal teenager right? Well besides having no parents and this headache that won't go away. Her friends have started acting Strange around her, as if scared of her? Suddenly she has a horrible nightmare that she was killed. The next day a news story shows the exact events that happened in her dream. Only this is real and someone has lost their life.
Hiding the secret of her parents' disappearance from her friends is easier said than done. It doesn't help that Jason is too flirty to give her personal space.
One day everything changes
And she is forced to seek help from her obnoxious childhood friend.
Skyler goes into hysterics trying to figure out who the killer is as accusations get flung around, people start dropping like flies, who will be left standing? Only the strongest will make it out
She sighed. "Secrets... more secrets. Haven't I had enough encounters with those..." she glanced around the cafeteria, and guilt gripped her. What could she do? What could anyone do when they were being hunted like mice?
