Yuki Furukawa and medical lab partner Noelle Kitagawa have made a major medical discovery! But soon afterwards, the excitement dies -- Noelle's been diagnosed with glioblastoma. They try polio therapy, but the tumor only grows.
So, despite the new drug they'd created not having yet been approved by the FDA, Furukawa and new lab recruit partner Kitomi Takashima secretly treat her with the new therapy.
They're risking it, though, and they know, because one possible side effect is suffering from moderate memory loss.
The possibility of it? Why, it's 80%.
But there's always that 20%....
So they go for the kill...
and she is declared free of cancer a few months later.
Then everything
breaks
loose.
Noelle begins to suffer from memory loss, and the damage is worsening day by day.
And upon awakening from an unexpectedly long sleep, Neolle's memory is cloudy.
She can remember significant figures in life, but....
Not their discovery.
Or Furukawa.
Despite this, Furukawa and Noelle are still awarded the Nobel and Break through prizes as Noelle then reviews their papers.
And throughout all of this, Furukawa can feel but only down.
Because although she's finally starting to recall him and her, he can never regain the opportunity to tell her how much he had
once
loved
her.
