Background:

Lucas Friar comes from a rich family with houses all over the world. His parents are always traveling, He used to travel with them, but finally talked them into letting him stay in The Big Apple with his new friends, Riley Matthews and Farkle Minkus.

Farkle's father is richer than everyone else in New York because he is a majorly known scientist. His parents are still married, but his mother is usually out of the country with her own business, which no one, even Farkle, really knows what that is.

Riley, well she doesn't come from a rich family, but they are financially sound and live in a nice house. Her father is one of the History teachers at the kids school, Monroe High School, and her mother is a well known lawyer, that is also the recently new owner of 'Topanga's', the kids hang out.

Lucas and Riley are not dating, but everyone in their grade knows they are a thing, including Maya Hart, the 'new girl'.
Maya isn't technically the new girl anymore, she came to the school in the middle of the 8th grade, and today is the first day of 9th grade, the first day of high school, for all of them. Maya, unlike the trio of friends, comes from a practically poor family. And by family, that means her mother and her. She pretty much lives alone because her mom has three jobs to keep the small house they have and to put food on the table each night. Maya has liked Lucas since she first looked at him, and then even more when she learned that he had an amazing personality, but he would never talk to her, he had Riley.
