There are many things that happen in life. Both good and bad. Sometimes it's great news that could have the ability to change you as a person, or it could be a heartbreaking and tearful experience you've had to go through. Sometimes it could be moving house or getting a new pet. Sometimes it could be acing your exams or getting your first car for your sixteenth birthday (even though we all know you'd have to wait until you're eighteen to actually drive it).

However not everyone is lucky enough to live a life full of amazing experiences and memories. There are more unfortunate people out in the world who've had to cope with news that they never thought they'd have to to live to hear. That your son or daughter had died, or your friend has got cancer.

And Sonny Williamson is one of those unfortunate people. After a terrible accident that had occurred on a family holiday in Rio, Sonny is forced to head back home to England with her little brother, only to pack up their stuff and catch another plane ride to the states of America where their mums side of the family awaits for them.

What will be waiting in America for these two Europeans? Will someone from Sonny's past pop up unexpectedly? Where are her parents? What will her little brother have to face? But most of all, will their unfortunate lives change?
