Long story short Val is a broken girl, she feels guilty for ruining Vincent's life. Vincent blames her for his family that fell apart. That's why he bullies her, his life mission is to break her, push her to the point of suicide. He wants her dead, though when something tragic happened he realized all he ever wanted was closure.
