When I first sat down at the piano, I was three years old. Ten years later, here I am, on stage in front of three thousand people. Maybe I have a gift. It doesn't really matter, does it?
Oh, but it does, prompts the voice behind my temple, which is only stilled when my hands caress the ebony and ivory. It matters more than you can ever imagine.
And yet I manage to still the voice in the only way I know: I play.

It is the beginning of the 18th century in East Africa, and just living past 5 years is something to celebrate. Zalika is looking forward to the naming ceremony, where she will get her adult name and be presented to the people with a name of her own. Her father and most of the village men had been lured away by a ruse. The riders came from the south with skin so light she thought they might be ghosts. Their speech sounded hard and brittle to her. When her father returned, the raiders were gone, the village was burning, and only the youngest of his children remained, her world shattered. Zalika could not have imagined there was anything left to take from her until her father's grief drove him to something that could not be undone and would take what remained of her childhood, her future, and her humanity. What happens when the Phoenix does not want to be reborn? Zalika, changed by magic intended to bring her mother back from the dead, is left to find out. This is a fantasy, but I have worked to get the history correct with some creative license to tell the story. About this time, the Dutch Africans conducted their last raid up into what is now Kenya. The War of Spanish Succession is feeding the golden age of piracy. By the end of the story, that war will end, and the Spanish Inquisition will begin. My characters have no important role in any of these, but they must live with the opportunities and consequences of a war that touched most of the world. There are no graphic descriptions of sex anywhere in this story. This is an adventure story and includes violence and cruelty. This was written without AI. I do use computer proofreading tools that use AI. I don't know of any that don't use AI.

When I have enough chapters edited and to my liking, I will start posting them on a schedule starting at the end of the discontinued chapters or I'll make a separate book for the new version. If you have questions about, don't hesitate to ask. The roof crashed down at the speed of lightning, crushing me under the table as I gasped for air. My mind scrambling to process what had happened as I felt rubble falling around me, surrounding me in darkness. I reached up, my arm stinging as I hit the hard wood table over me, which was keeping the rubble off me, miraculously. I wiped my forehead, sweat, and probably blood dripping down my arm and side of head as I reached for a nearby rock, trying to push on it, hoping that it might help me out of this disaster. "Mom? Betty?" I called, hoping for a response, only to get none. I didn't even get the slightest whimper from any of them. What the heck happened? "Mom?! Betty?!" I screamed this time, trying to push myself up onto my back, my leg killing me so much that I had to give up. I laid back down on the ground, placing my hand on the bottom of the table; anger, fear, confusion getting the best of me. I screamed as I banged my fists on the wood table. "MOM? BETTY?" Nothing. I was ready to bang on the wood again, but I flinched back when I heard the sound of moving rubble. Whoever it is was almost near where I was, and ... moving quickly. So, there's no possible way that it was a human. It would take hundreds do men to lift these boulders, but whoever this person is, is stronger than anyone I would kn- My thoughts froze as I watched something large wrap around the edges of the table, lifting it up; my eyes widening as I came face to face with the largest creature known to mankind. A giant. (This is my book from my own brain. These are my own characters based off my family members. Please do not steal it.)
The Orion Legacy by DrPayne
19 parts Complete
Let me tell you a story of a kingdom that was once the most advanced civilization known to this day, a pinnacle of achievement that still astounds the universe with its grandeur and sophistication. Its twin towers were the centre of all knowledge of the universe, and their luminous rays radiated from the lights at the tip of each tower, guiding all travellers from across time and space back to its main doors. Until the day they arrived, from the shadows and as old as our known universe, we battled with all we had to contain this dark and mysterious life form. Our kingdom was about to fall. Our scientists found a way by creating a wormhole through space to a new world, granting us a chance to save our civilization. But something happened during the process... I was jolted awake to find myself alone, hundreds of years later, and all of those who had been with me gone. It was only after certain events that I discovered my immortality, so I vowed to rebuild the Orion civilization in this new world. One day, against all odds, I met her gaze, a unique gaze that only my wife Lisana had possessed. I later realized that it was her spirit reincarnated, as Kayronian we could only love one person, we were irrevocably drawn to each other regardless of distance and time. We lived happily until her death; many years later on a trip to another continent, I encountered her again, this time as queen of a Nordic people, multiple lives together followed, united by our eternal love and the immeasurable pain of reliving her death over and over again, in total I had to bury her with my own hands 87 times. The last Lisana implored me to break the cycle before it started again. Then the first occurrence happened, somehow they found a way to access this realm, through some rift, However, they were unable to keep their physical form in this world, i must find a way stop to them.

I'll be honest I don't know what to do, quite frankly it's hard to think straight right now. I feel my body shutting down as the adrenaline is losing its punch, I can't run any faster. I'm always running, they are always chasing me. I don't even know why they chase me, I don't know what I did and like them they won't say. Do they even know? Am I just unlucky? Someone they picked at random to be the new subject of there torture? I wont let it happen. That's why I'll stay free, never fully contained. I think about the one I love, Charlie. I don't know where he is, I don't even know if he is safe. "Hey! Weapon down sarge, we don't want to kill her!" A guard's shout smacks me out of my train of thought. By this point I've gained some distance due to them having heavy armour. This stops me in my tracks though, I hear the guards slow down too. I stop, I realise, they want me alive. They aren't going to kill me, they don't want me dead. I have a gun, if I just point it at myself what are they going to do? I turn around and I look at all of the guards who have stopped in their tracks heaving in confusion. It's silent, even the wind is merely a whisper, all that can be heard is the panting of everyone on scene. They want me alive, they want me alive. I turn around, towards my chasers. I notice the guards straighten as I do so, instinctively I hold my gun to my neck, one bullet left, not enough for all of them but enough to kill me. They don't want me dead. I look to see all of them freeze in shock before one of the guards takes a step forward. I can't see their face, I can't see anyone's face but I feel like I need to know who this is. Before I can react they raise their gun and shoot. Pain explodes in my leg and I fall, all that running, for nothing. All I see now is black, I can't hear everything but I still feel conscious.

Blood Moon Princess by IanMFlint
50 parts Complete
It is the autumn equinox, or the death day, the time to contact those that have gone before. Everyone closes their eyes and are silent to commune with the spirits. I had never tried to contact spirits before. But this year I seek my mother. She died this day, fourteen years ago; my birthday. My position in the ceremony is shadow maker. This is a role that I have played since I was old enough to carry the marker staff. It is a rod the length of my forearm tapered at the lower end and holding a clear stone at the top. I hold it high in the air waiting. It catches the light, and its shadow forms an eye directly in the middle of the equinox stones. Spirits surround me. They stop and nod, or at least make eye contact before moving on. "Mother?" She could be an older version of myself. She smiles at me, then, fades as an old presence joins me. This spirit isn't just old; it's ancient. It exudes wisdom and understanding, peace and culture. We celebrate, together, to the music of creation. I seem to know the dance but not as well as she. We are alone only briefly before being joined by another. They dance as if they know each other's every move. I try to keep up. When I falter, they smile, laugh and show me how. There is no passage of time. We dance together for an instant and forever. I shouldn't, but I open my eyes. My shadow, marking the equinox, isn't a shadow, it is a shimmering swirl of blended light. The stone in the top of my staff is flicking with a brilliant white accented by scintillating bands of many colours. I quickly close my eyes but the ancients are gone. We all open our eyes. My shadow falls through the standing stones as it should. And it is black, also, as it should be. They had danced with me.
