After a ten year absence Mirandir, a travelling blacksmith, finally returned to England to confront his biggest fear. However the capital city of London isn't what it once was. With its king away on another crusade, the city is left in the hands of the princess. But the king's enemies are still plotting. And they've got support from inside the royal palace. Only one person knows of the plot, and unfortunately for Mirandir, that someone needs all the help he can get. After a rough chance encounter, Lance, a London thief, and Mirandir are forced together in order to save the princess, the king, the empire and themselves.
