guilty [ˈɡiltē] 1. culpable of or responsible for a specified wrongdoing. At seventeen, I was found guilty for murder. Guilty. The word that consumes any piece of identity I once had and reminds me of how drastically a life can change in a matter of seconds. Being incarcerated for murder maintains a permanent hold on you, even when new evidence comes to light. Evidence that proves you are innocent, that you were always innocent, only after the damage is done. For those who put me there, it's only been three years- but I'm not the same person anymore. ----------------------------------------------------------- Written in 2016, being posted in 2022.
