Jessie Mercer has never been normal. Although, it's not from her lack of trying. At four years old she watched as her mother was taken from her by the mist. She almost was taken too, that is until Mystery Boy showed up and saved her. At 16 Jessie lives in with her adopted father, Marcus, who is not the ideal image of a father. She also believes that her mother is still alive. On the run, in search for her mother Jessie is accompanied by her best friend, Derrick , and mystery boy, Ian. Together they battle against evil and protect the one thing that can destroy it. Jessie knows her mother would still be alive. After all, they still needed her. Or so they thought. Jessie was the one they really needed they just didn't know it yet. All the while Jessie is completely and utterly drawn to Ian and his mysteriousness. She wasn't looking for any romance but it just may be what she finds.
