"It was supposed to be my moment of freedom. The day my foster father would finally let me go out without him. Why I was so closely guarded at the age of nineteen I had no idea, but one fateful walk will change my life forever..." Living in a foster home her entire life, Elaina Kestrel has lived a life filled with unanswered questions. Questions with answers that any normal person would know, such as the names of any siblings she might have or her true last name, but Elaina didn't know. Kestrel was the last name she'd adopted from her foster father in an attempt to make the unclear snippets of memories from her four years with her true family disperse, but no matter how hard she tried to make herself believe she was part of the close-knit Kestrel family, Elaina always felt out of place. The name of the man who had kindly taken her in at the young age of four was Noah Kestrel. Noah was a thirty-six year-old single man with a tight bond with his aging parents and a passion for architecture. Some days it seemed all Noah would do was design magnificent buildings in his cozy office in the attic. Despite the friendly nature of the man, Elaina had always been suspicious of Noah and was positive he had a large secret concerning herself. He was extremely protective. She was never allowed out on her own and didn't have any access to Internet. Poor Elaina was even home-schooled. But as Elaina would soon find out, Noah had a reason for all of these precautions, a reason that will send Elaina's world into turmoil.
