Casey sighed. "Remember how we logged that the system was acting a bit slow and funky during both parts of 'All I Ask of You' last night?"
Valentina nodded. "A minor bug that needs recalibrating, yes. And?" she muttered through gritted teeth.
"And, get this - downstage cable B isn't releasing on cue."
This day couldn't get any worse.

____

As a stage manager, all Valentina Morgan wants to do is have a normal day at work - no whining actors, no crazy audience members, no technical malfunctions. After an awful night's sleep and an even more awful morning, she just wants to go through the motions without any issues.

But when you work on Broadway, there's a fat chance that'll happen.

{book two of the Gang love series} * I got pulled into an empty classroom and a pair of hands covered my eyes. "Guess who?" he whispered into my ear before nibbling on it. I giggled. "Hi, Drew." He turned me around by my waist and placed his lips on mine. "Hi, Queenie." I walked to the side and hopped onto a desk. "Now is there a reason why you pulled me into an empty classroom?" I asked. He walked in between my legs placing his hands on either side of my legs. "I wanted a kiss," he said before leaning forward and connecting our lips again. My hands went to the back of his neck and into his hair. My tongue went into his mouth making him pull me against his body and squeeze my hips. When we pulled apart he rested his forehead against mine. "Will you come over after school? We can work on our project and makeout, well mostly makeout."* High school is hard enough without the problems faced being in California's most feared and the most powerful gang. Regina Di' Medici King is living this life but with the added troubles of Andrew Gray, the son of a rival gang leader, making her feel things she's never felt before. Will the two of them find a way to make it work or will it all fall apart? Sequel to Princess and the Devil. Highly suggest reading the first book. I hated waiting. It was especially challenging standing carefully to make sure I didn't break my heel before the appointed time. Ugh setting up a meet cute like this seemed so stupid. If all I had to do was seduce the mark, why did we have to go through all this extra effort? But the powers that be said our mark had a real romantic streak and was currently heartbroken over his highschool sweetheart cheating on him with a new business contact, before both skipped the country, seemingly to elope. I watched the crowd walking past me as I stood in the shade of a closed store alcove, the walls giving me something lean against making sure I didn't step on the unstable heel accidentally. Stupid Americans, everyone looked like they were in such a hurry to go buy more things they didn't need. Hair and makeup took two hours yesterday and just as long today. I did not want to have to sit through that again. Plus being stuck in a third girly demure dress for another day might be enough to finally kill me. It might not have all been so bad if I could have chatted with someone while my hair was pulled and burned and styled, and creams and potions layered on my face and eyes. But all of the salon girls were owned by the powers that be, and none spoke any of the languages I could. I suspected that it wasn't an accident. I felt my phone vibrate with an alarm. Show time. I started walking down the sidewalk. It would have been a beautiful day for a walk if I wasn't so focused on my mission, and trying to only walk on my toes with my right foot. The town car pulled up to the curb just ahead of me, coming to a stop in front of the quaint little shop. The timing was working out perfectly. Just a couple more steps. I watched as the rear door of the passenger side opened, I moved to step around the now open car door just as a set of long legs in navy slacks swung out from the car. 3...2...1...

He was meant to be her medicine but he turned out to be a Slow Poison. ------------------------------------- I hear his hoarse voice bringing me back from the daze as he growls in between the kisses. "You have no idea how dangerous it can be..." He says with his lips going down to the area just above my breast, he sucks in desperately, squeezing my ass gently, making me whimper in bliss. I clutch to his shirt, trying to hold my body from collapsing. "Careful...You are messing with the devil, Cole." He doesn't let me breathe for a minute as he starts attacking me with his open-mouthed kisses all the way back. Rapture succumbs me as I feel his lips again on my neck, traveling higher. I breathe heavily, unable to maintain my composure while being acquainted with this unfamiliar sensation. His lips reach my ear as he gently nibbles my earlobe. "You know why people call me the devil?" His breath fanning over my ear. "It's not because I am a sinner." His harsh breath comes out in pants, showing me how equally he is affected as he continues. [COMPLETED] "Shoot," Joey mumbles, letting out a string of profanities under his breath. We turn around to find a group of men, all with guns, standing where we just came from, and they look pissed... probably because they were forced to run through this tunnel after us. "Thought you could get away, didn't you?" The man who I saw before asks. His husky voice booms in the hollow tunnel, reverberating off of the dirt walls. His voice sounds familiar, and a realization strikes me. It sounds like the man from my dream. I remember him holding a gun and wearing a blue suit, smiling evilly at me. "Leave us alone," Joey says, sounding dangerous and snapping me out of my thoughts. The levity of the situation hits-we need to get out of here. I look around for a route of escape and thankfully I see a light, literally, at the end of the second tunnel. I let out a small, almost inaudible, gasp and nudge Joey. He looks at me and I subtly gesture with my head to the second tunnel. He glances at it and immediately we are on the same page. His jaw sets and he looks at the group. The man speaks up again, chuckling darkly-a sound I will never forget and will be permanently etched into my brain, "You can thank your father for starting this mess." -------------------------- Liza was a normal teenaged girl, living the average life that an eighteen year old girl should be living.
