After the disaster of Jo and Alaric's wedding, Alaric had to bury Jo for it was final that she was gone. After the funeral, Stefan finds a girl on the side of the street alone and injured and can't remember who she is. He takes her in to help her recover her memories. After months, she starts remembering her name. To get her full memories back, Stefan calls an old friend for help. As the girl is sent to New Orleans, she starts to know more about Klaus Mikaelson and his family. Soon enough, she starts to have feelings for the monster they call Klaus.
