Madame Camille's Academy for the Gifted was established in Paris over seven hundred years ago, in an old cathedral that, on the outside, has been closed down to the public, and rumors have spread that whoever sets foot inside, never comes out. As for anyone who isn't human, or the Others, the Academy is their home, and the only place they can feel safe and think of themselves as humans- or as close as they'll ever get.

Nineteen-year-old Ronnie Macmillan has been going to the Academy for three years, but has no idea why he has the Sight, or if he even HAS any powers.. But, every boy wants to be like him, every girl wants to be with him. Life couldn't be better.
