Little do either of them know, that night in the freezing cold, what role she will play in their lives...

His disdain towards her kin begins to push her away from him and create doubt within her - that is until people try to separate her from him. That is not the only bond that changes, there is another that has been changing long before the quest started: The bond Lessrien shares with Kili. Not only does their bond change but Lessrien realizes her feelings towards him have changed as well.
