Emily Diane Burroughs, or Dove as she likes to be called, is an overachiever in her own right. As the daughter of a university professor, you would expect as much to be true. She has grown up with the belief that the supernatural world is nonexistent. Living in the small town of Westbury, North Carolina, Dove is used to the people around her. Being close the Cherokee Indian Reservation gave her access to their prized heritage and culture, which had always fascinated her. Dove attends Westbury High School, along with the other teenagers that she's grown up knowing. The only difference between them: They know the real reason of why the town of Westbury exists. Werewolves. They populate the whole town, seeing it is the headquarters of the Eastern Coast Pack. Werewolves surround Dove in her everyday life, yet she never notices that she is one of the only humans that attend her high school. Her father knows of their existence, and vowed to keep Dove from the dangerous world that they come from. Doves's mother, who had died of cancer many years before, had been from werewolf lineage. The secret had been well kept; the rituals that haunted the night of the full moon, the hardships of a first shift, and most important, the bond of mates. Dove knows nothing, nor does she believe. Until he comes along, and turns her world upside down. Nathaniel Lawes. He has the blood of the Cherokee Indian and werewolf running through his veins. Powerful and swift in nature, he is a quiet eighteen year old searching for his soulmate. Returning home from a boarding school to finish his senior year at Westbury High, he meets Dove. Instantly sparks fly, but only for Nathaniel. Dove is human, and cannot feel the pull of her and Nathaniel's connection. Now it is Nathaniel's destiny to make Dove believe everything that she thought was false actually exists. The only problem: Dove doesn't want anything to do with him.

[DISCONTINUED] **MATURE LANGUAGE AND CONTENT** **POSSIBLE TRIGGERS** WATTYS2018 I walk down the staircase, entranced with his sharp, angular features. I notice how his lip curls up at the edge when he sees me. A soft breeze blows his scent across the room, and I can't think. Roses and salty ocean waves fill my nostrils. Add sunlight to the mix- which shouldn't have a smell but Luna, he smells like it- and I'm pretty sure if I could open my mouth, I'd be drooling. 'Mate.' My wolf whispers, giddy. I scramble back up the stairs. ____________________ Opening up when something terrible happens is hard. Near impossible.
