Have you ever hit complete and utter rock bottom? You don't really have the energy to do anything. Your body hurts so much, you can't move. You get really sick. It gets kinda hard to think. Tears, a lot of tears. Going to sleep late, sleeping in, or being up early. Not going to sleep at all. You can't make your brain shut down. You constantly ask yourself why. All your friends suddenly disappear, you have no one. Nothing gives you motivation anymore, you don't go anywhere or talk to anyone. You just sit, sit in the silence of your room. No music, no white noise, no talking, just nothing. You find that the things that used to calm you while you panicked no longer calm you. All your body can do is shake, even if you aren't cold, it just shakes because it can't do anything else but that. You finally wake up and realize that the world isn't a great place. People waste our time, people hurt us. We are just expected to take it. It is the greatest stress in life, making the people you love happy. Hoping someone will believe in you. We don't want to hurt, but all the best people do. If you hurt, then you know you gave your all in whatever it was you were doing. We always want to let someone in but we can't. We can't because our past consume us, even when we are told not to. When we let people in, we always end up hurt, in one way or another. Life works like that I guess. People who bounce back are the strongest people. They are the ones who get hurt the most. They are the ones who can't be happy without something messing it up. 2 good days for 10 bad. They come from the most broken homes, they love with everything they have. They also don't beg for anyone to stay, they know that they are hard to love and easy to hate. The most stubborn, the most nervous about small things, the most caring, loving, special people to ever be met. Always telling people that they are shy, and that they are anxious a lot only to watch those people walk away.

Remi has always loved the forest, the different sounds, smells, the way she could get lost in it and never have to go home to her non-existent parents. She goes in and out of her life with her best friend everyday just waiting until they're both old enough to leave their small boring town. But one day Remi is attacked, and nearly killed, by a man in the forest. When she wakes up everything's different. She feels something inside her, a power, but she has no idea what happened to her. All she remembers is the man's strange yellow eyes. When three new boys show up at her school, one with yellow eyes, asking her question she gets nervous. And then one night while heading to go get her friend she's taken and thrown into a world she didn't know existed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Remi?" Jen says suddenly. "Hmm?" I hum back. "Do you ever wish you could just live in the forest? Away from everyone and everything?" She looks at me. "Free." We stare at each other for a long time. I see the real meaning in Jen's eyes. Her worries for going home to her overly strict parents. Her fears for the future and the unknown in general. "If we lived in the forest we wouldn't have gummy bears any more." I comment to lighten the mood. She doesn't find it funny. "I'm serious Remi! What if we did run away?" "Jen, we can't just run away. I know your parents are strict but I truly think they just want what's best for you." She says nothing. For a moment I fear she's mad at me but then she puts her head on my shoulder and I know we're okay.
