Whispercloud's kits have come early and they are very sick. Only one manages to survive but he is deemed useless and worthless to the clan after the deputy died for the kit. His mother disowns him and even gives him a cruel name, all while the father is the new deputy and can't spend time with the kit. 

The medicine cat soon receives an omen that may be tied to the small, seemingly hopeless cat but some cats of WindClan believe there is still hope.
