If you were not with them, you were against them. by the end of the 21st century the world was utter chaos and anyone who did not follow the laws to the letter were taken away by the Keepers. Part ninja, part spy, part soldier, the Keepers were brainwashed citizens raised from 8 months old to be able to apprehend anyone. Only 87% made it through training. The population was cut into 6 groups, one for each block, each the size of a continent. Every other healthy child was marked at birth to become a Keeper. Children were often sent to other blocks to keep the population exactly even, but not always. Rebellions rose but were extinguished quickly, before they even really started. Eventually the only hope was a single underground rebellion until even that began to disappear. This is the same exact story as An Inch of Infinity except it has been broken into small chapters to be more easily read on mobile devices. I own the characters, the story, the cover art. Everything. They drove past a single tall scraggly tree on top of a hill shrouded in mist. The creepy tree was full of screaming crows. How could she hear them from inside the bus when she couldn't even seem to hear the voices of the kids around her? Geez, that was an awfully freaking dark image. She shivered and looked away. What did they call a group of crows again? Right, a murder of crows. Perfect. The weather was certainly the only thing that was typical these days, although you'd never know it by looking around the bus at most of the kids as they sat joking and gossiping with each other just like they had before... before that day everything had changed. Idiots.
