You know I love short stories. In fact, I collect them, like someone would seashells or stamps. I keep the ones I especially like so I can read them back later-at the moment I have about eight binders full of photocopies. Some are stories I read in college; a few are stories from my peers in workshops that really impressed me; most are stories from anthologies and literary journals and short-story collections that I've read over the years and that I didn't want to forget. Creator: Friend or Foe?
This story began as a NaNoWriMo 2012 work, with no planning, and even less idea of plot. I learned from that experience that I am not a 'pantser' -and spent about 20 painful months trying to turn my stream-of-consciousness 3-stories-in-one into one coherent novel, following the timeline and events in the Book of Genesis. I discovered that that is not a great way to build a plot. I ended after 5 more drafts, at about 60k words. There is another draft on my blog, slightly longer, a bit more experimental. The Gods Anew
Millions of years ago, Gods of the heavens rode from the stars to aid the terrestrial heroes in vanquishing the Lord of Darkness. To the depths he rose from for his conquest of souls. To this day, he burns with his demon army in the ethereal flames of hell.
