Cass lives in a world racked with heavy war, 24\7. Her father, Lieutenant Michael J Thompson, is killed while bravely defending his planet. Little did Cass know that the government that she'd been supposedly "defended by" was the cause of all the violence that killed her family after a failed attempt at escaping. Now Cass is searching the planet she calls home for a mysterious rebellion ironically called "The Protectors of Old Chicago", otherwise known as The Protectors, and meets a girl that changes the stakes. And her emotions.
