They chose me because I had nothing left to lose. The first man to enter a new world, yet have nothing to offer. I wasn't the kind of person to give an unforgettable quote upon entering new soil. I wasn't the person anyone would fathom to be the first Man to Mars, but here I was, entering an expedition to last a year, awaiting something no human would ever know of. He was a widowed man with no will to live. Until at the end of his demise he was sent on a one year voyage which, if carried out successfully, could make him the first man to enter Martian land. The story centers around his personal speculations on past events, upon being alone with only his thoughts to entertain him, and the dynamic changes they impose on his attitudes towards his present and potential future. He begins to find peace within himself and is determined to be what no other human ever was, leaving the biggest question unanswered. Will he be able to reach Mars?
