Every time someone falls in love with someone, not necessarily in romance, but in friendship, companionship, mentor-ship, or anyone else who has effected them, they get a tiny heart on their right arm. When they lose touch with the person, the heart fades but doesn't completely go away because their impact still resonates within that person. When someone has their heart broken by somebody, they get a scar where the heart should be, and when you met your soulmate, you would both get a heart on the palm of your left hand.
Some people's arm is completely covered in the hearts, some faded, some not. Some people have an equal amount of hearts and scars. And others have far more scars than hearts.

The stripe appears at birth. It is possible for someone to not get a stripe but some people can get a delayed soulmate and develop their stripe later but not all. If the soulmate is romantic, then the soulmate will stay true to the persons sexuality. If the soulmate gets hurt the person will be able to sense where (if its physical pain). Mental pain works slightly differently so for example, their soulmate is going through grief, they can feel ever so slightly what the soulmate is feeling so sometimes people can be found suddenly tearing up, even in the happiest of moments, of sadness. If the soulmate is uncomfortable or has been harassed, the person will get visions of it almost like looking back on a memory. when soulmates kiss their stripes will glow slightly.Complete
