Mila "Tangerine" Talbot drops into the wake for a former classmate's uncle and creates a stir because of her appearance and attire, however, she also catches the eye of that former classmate, Beaman Rhys, who has been his late uncle's caregiver for the past few years. There's always been some sort of chemistry between Tangerine and Beaman but they went off on separate paths after high school, but there are definitely sparks between them. He invites her to the funeral service the following day, and tells her how he wants her to dress. Although she doesn't have much money (she's an independent film documentary maker) she finds herself shopping at Marshalls for the exact outfit he wants to see her in. The next day Beaman pursues her at the funeral reception and she's not quite sure why, although his rich girlfriend dumped him, the ne who always torment Mila in school. He offers her an opportunity to film a documentary about his late uncle, a hoarder. Mila's pretty sure he's offering her something more as well.
