Neko was only twelve years old, when the Colossal Titan attacked. His mom had already died several years before of an illness.
When the Colossal Titan attacked, his father tried using him as bait, so he could escape. Unfortunately his plan failed, a random military policeman used his 3D maneuver gear to save Neko. Unfortunately his dad was stepped on by a Titan, and was killed.
When the military man put Neko down, Neko realized that he could save lives just like the man did, and was determined to became apart of the Survey Corps.
