It was a nice sunny day outside and I( Ashley ) decide to go to the mall with my friends. So first I brushed my teeth. Then I went downstairs to eat breakfast I had eggs, bacon,toast, and grits. My mom and dad told me they were going on a vacation to Hawaii and her brother Max was gonna stay at the grandmas house. So she had the house to herself. After she ate breakfast she went upstairs and texted all her friends about having the house to herself. Then she asked her 2 friends Monica and Conner it they wanted to go to the mall and of course they said YES! So she went into the shower and put on a burgundy crop top,black shorts,a blue flannel, a gold necklace ,long black socks,and white converse. Then for the final touche a messy bun. She put on sweet pea perfume and lotion with pearl earrings she was 17 so she had her own car she told her parents and brother by then went to pick her friends up. First she stopped at Monica's house then Conners. They went into forever 21,wet seal,H&M,Charlotte Russe,and many other stores. After they shopped they got Chinese food then prexals. They walked around with slushes and talked and on there way out they went to foot locker. She invited them over for a sleepover so she dropped them by there house to get clothes and pajamas don't forget shoes. Then had karaoke,they made cookies,and played basketball then took showers, after they showered they changed into there pajamas and watched parnormal activity. But what they didn't know was that there was parnormal activity going on in there house!

I frowned, thrown off "Do i...remember?" "Do you remember..." she starts but her voice falters. She glances down at the sand, biting her lip debating whether to even continue. She then takes a shaky breath and finally looks up. Eyes locking with mine " do you even remember how you got it?" Her question hits me like a slap. I open my mouth, then close it, my brows furrowing as I force my brain to rewind. How did I get it? Nothing. Not a single clear memory. She steps closer, her voice trembling, but the edge of anger sharpening her words. "Or when? Or where? Or for what reason? Or what it even means?!" I flinch at her tone, but I can't answer her. I try. God, I try.. I look down at the sand beneath my feet, forcing myself to dig through every memory, every hazy night out, every stupid decision I might've made-but nothing. Not a single moment of how I got it surfaced. I let out a frustrated breath and rake a hand through my hair, feeling the panic rise like bile in my throat. When I finally lift my head to speak, Ashley's already staring at me, and I can tell-she knows my answer before I say a word. "Mom, not today. I don't even know why you're making me go. Today is dads..." I didn't want to finish and remind her of dads' birthday. My phone kept ringing, I already knew it was Dakota, he's my childhood best friend. "Just take your brother to school, please!" She exclaimed. She looked miserable. I shut the door and smelled the freshly cut grass. I smiled to myself knowing it was my dad's favorite smell. "Alexandria! We're gonna be late, can you stop daydreaming and get in the car." My brother, Cory hollered. He hates to think about dad. He just forgets. I Jeep Wrangler and I started the car, Cory rolled down his windows. "Are we sitting together at lunch today?" Cory asked me. "No I want you to sit with your friends, I'll be alright alone." I told him. "Alright Alex, believe it or not I actually love you. And I love you enough to tell you, you need friends." He admitted. "Have fun. Love you too, Corky." I laughed at the name I gave him when I was a kid. He smiled at me then left into the school. I went on to go to a flower shop. I stopped and got out. I walked in the shop. "Ally, do you have my order, the cars running?" I asked Ally. "Yeah Alex, I have it. Your order for 1 dozen Chocolate Cosmos, 2 dozen Daises, and 1 dozen yellow Roses." "Thanks Ally." I grabbed all the flowers then ran back to the car. I drove to the grave. I threw all my stuff into my bag. I grabbed the flowers and I pulled my bag over my shoulder and got out. I looked around and saw people young and old coming here to see their loved ones. I saw my families graves. Almost my whole family will be buried here. My grandpa always said it was sacred. I put the Cosmos on my dad's grave. The Daises on my grandmothers and the Roses on my grandpas. I talked and talked to them till I pull my pack of cigarettes out of my bag along with a lighter. I put the cancer stick in my mouth and lit it. "You guys are probably really mad right now. Blame peer pressure in 9th grade."Complete

And when she and her best friend go on a runaway road trip--they end up in a truck with sex traders. Claire's world spins out of control--until it doesn't. It is 2008 and In 2008 the whole world changed. And not just because the iphone came out in 2007. It wasn't just the families of the OC Housewives that were living a reality show; so many families seemed to be all about "the house" and not "the home." Sunglasses cost hundreds of dollars and "bags" were thousands. Everything had a label that said you spent a lot of money. People went crazy buying another house, a boat, a Hummer (at 10 miles to the gallon). I distinctly remember two couples, in their late 30s, who were shopping together in Toys R Us. They had a video camera and were discussing the "rules" to this shopping trip. The rules were they had to look into the camera and say what they were buying, for who and why. And the carts had to be overflowing with toys. It was as if they had dreamed their entire lives of doing a "who cares how much it costs" shopping spree at Toys R Us for their children. Just recklessly spending on a bunch of STUFF. That was 2007. And then came 2008. But, more disturbing to me, was the impact it had on families. I think moms and dads lost themselves in providing stuff for their kids and not giving their kids time. And I saw the kids suffer because of it. So, I did a little research and a lot of observing and I wrote a mostly fictional story about an upper-middle class family in the OC. It explores (it simple terms) what was going on in the economy and what teenagers really want from their parents...Complete

*WARNING, NOT EDITED* Ashley was in her Senior year of High school. She is 17. She has had a wonderful high school experience and is ready to finish strong for her last year. What she didn't know was that her friend's boyfriend's friend would become very close to her. She would soon go through some things she had never experienced. She and her bestfriend, Mercedes, have been friends since they were little. She didnt really have any friends because of her skin color. Ashley's mom was African American and her father left when she was little. Her mother found someone who would treat her better. Ashley has 2 little siblings. A little brother and a little sister. She wasn't the richest out there but she was happy with what she had. She had 2 jobs so she could get out of the small town of Roseville. When she meets this guys, she didn't know how hard it was going to be. She didn't know she was going to be judged because of her class. She also didn't know her skin color mattered.Complete

Leena Nur was wrapping up her senior year at Leading Senior High this summer and with that, her domestic duties were also coming to their end. High school was nothing to miss for Leena. Instead, it was the bridge between childhood and adulthood. For the entirety of her life, she had been stuck there, forbidden to cross. Leena was neither young and never close to being old enough for anything. She considered it the curse of being the youngest and only daughter of a traditional East African family. As the sole daughter of her doting parents, Leena was their pride, their joy and also...their live-in maid. She was the youngest sibling of four brothers and as if being surrounded by them every living moment was not enough, her relentless neighbor, and brother's best friend made sure to loiter around to make her life worse. It was fine, she told herself, since she was determined to move out soon because of it. She knew she was close to the freedom she had been stealing tiny licks of since forever. She was graduating and that meant something so, so important. College. New Friends. And most irrevocably exciting, boys. If her father had heard that, let alone her brothers, Leena would have been locked deep inside her closet-sized room. However, she was determined they never would because by that time, she'd already be far away in America with her potential soul-mate, sipping hot cocoa and wrapped in lovely scarves she knitted. All she desired now, was to get through the rest of her high school career quieter than a mouse and receive that acceptance letter from UCLA. She could do it. Right? "I like that I can read this in a child like voice for the beginning and that it's descriptive yet secretive." "I have so many things to say, but I'll start with, this was amazing. Through this story you will see how this one thing had such an impact on my life and made me the person I am today. This one moment is what got me into writing. I made my way to the kitchen as usual and opened the fridge and grabbed a drink. My mom was usually in here,preparing a snack for my brother and I but today she wasn't. To think of it,it was too quiet around here I then proceeded to go upstairs to my room as I know my brother has soccer practise and my dad is at work. I walked upstairs and passed my father's office and I heard some talking I then heard laughing,a woman laughing to be specific "Scott stop!" She laughed once again And i knew that,that was not my mother's voice. My heart broke when I realised my dad didn't actually love my mother. He was a cheater and after this i lost all respect for him. I stood outside the door for a good 10 minutes debating whether I should storm In there or just keep quiet about the whole thing. The laughing and talking went on and I decided it would be best if I walked away. Tears threatened to fall as I went to my bedroom. I actually looked up to my father. He was my superman. He got himself a good job,a beautiful wife,and started a beautiful family...only to find out it was all a lie. Is his wife even his wife? Are we even his children?
