INSIGHT ON MAI DIARY
The "Please..." I hear her whimper and I go into full panic mode. "Calm down, okay? Deep breaths. Don't hang up. I'll be with you soon. Where are you?" I rush as I grab the car key sitting on the glass table. I run into the garage with my dad behind me. "What do you need?" Dad asks "A room. A big one." He runs back inside as I hear her voice again. "Basement...blood...Elle..." I hear sounds of movement in the background and connect the dots. Elle's bleeding, or something... "Deep breaths baby, deep breaths. It's okay, you're okay" I murmur reassuring words to her, thankful that there's no traffic. Several thoughts run through my mind as I drove to her house. The last time we spoke, she could barely stand me, but now she's calling me. I feel kinda used, but now's not the time to think about that. I reach her house in a matter of minutes and shove the door open. The house is quiet, save for my heavy breathing and footsteps. I reach the basement and take in the sight in front of me. Its Leah again here to rant about how obsessed I am with the new kid from NYC. He has such a bad boy vibe, not to mention all the rumors floating around town about why he got sent here. We don't get a lot of excitement around here in this small town. I spend most of my time as a ball of anxiety, but painting helps. My little sister Mia is like therapy when she sits down and paints with me. She is such a little angel. It seems like there's Never anything exciting, until the one day there was. This story is about a high school girl that has a crush on the new kid that just came to town from New York with a dark backstory. Not only does she have a new crush in town but there are a bunch of other secrets that have been coming to light with every sunrise the town sees. This town might be small but boy is there a lot of drama. The town police don't know what's worse, the splayed out animals or the missing high school girls. Leah doesn't know what to think as the town she knew as her home falls to shambles. Will she fall with the town or will she run away with the mystery man she has a secret obsession with.
