The is the third installment of the Sadian Chronicles series.

After returning home four years ago, Marianna begins to feel safe again. The scars left from her encounters with Marcus slowly start to heal, although the memory of Dusk stays clear in her mind. 

Reese is now four years old and Marianna longs to give his life stability. Local and national news shows an uprising of violence by and against Sadians. Marianna decides it's time to move on. She bids farewell to Carla and Ty, promising she will keep in touch.

A night of unwanted dreams leads Marianna to a woman named Julia Donner, a low level telepath. Marianna takes measures to protect her son, but Julia prerogative is not to hurt Reese, only to get Marianna's attention. Julia enlists Marianna's help om a rescue mission. She agrees before knowing Martin Drell, her uncle who had betrayed her years ago is the instigator of the mission
