*"JACE, SLOW DOWN!" I screamed. My blood ran cold as Jace pressed down on the peddle. She was so close. I saw her ruddy cheeks through the windshield. Kendall was dying of laughter. Narelle grabbed onto my arm, turning as pale as snow. Jace pressed harder on the gas. Kloë was laughing right along with the boys. But it wasn't funny any more. All of a sudden, she tripped. And it was all over.*

Avery Hues is a typical teenage girl. She has two best friends, Kloë Mathis and Narelle Pena. Of course every girl needs a few guy bestfriends, so Avery has Jace Bartz and Kendall Darsiwittz taking the slots. They are all inseparable. No matter what one of them is doing, this team of five is always there. But they are the meanest in the school. Especially to Elle Nicholls, literally laughing stock of the school. She gets tossed around worse than a rag doll. But what happens when one night, she vanishes into thin air. The police have an idea on who accidentally ended her life too soon.
