When Josh wakes up, he comes to find out one of the boys that died was his best friend and that he lost part of his right leg from the knee down. His world crumbles and his family feels that he needs a new start in a new town. As soon as Josh is released from the hospital, his family ships off half way across the United States. At his new town, he's stuck in a wheel chair and just stares out the window. To afraid to go outside or go to school when the school year comes around. What happens though when the girl he used to watch out his window, brings his books home to him so he can do his work at home? Unchained

Helen's parents demand that she marry the man they've chosen for her or be disowned. She chooses to be disowned. But that isn't good enough for them. They make sure that she either doesn't get jobs or they make sure that she gets fired from them. She loses her apartment and all her things do to them. They are sure that she'll give in and marry the man they've chosen rather than live on the streets. But then again, they've never really paid much attention to their daughter unless they wanted something from her. Helen would rather live on the streets and eat out of garbage dumpsters then return to her parents and marry the man that would make her life a living hell. At least on the streets she's free. She might starve or freeze to death but she'll be free. Then one day three men come after her, intent on forcing her and beating her for what little she has. Before one of them does more than grab her arm the three are gone. Helen looks down and finds them on the ground with their hearts torn out of the bodies. She looks at the person that did that in horror but then her sight goes black.
