For the better half of her life Mele Dumm has lived in a world of silence, well near silence. She sometimes catches slight sounds when something is incredibly loud but legally she is deaf. Mele's name is a literal translation to Mele-song and Dumm-dumb.

Living in a cruel world Mele has trouble in school but refuses a translator as she does not want to be different. When Mele starts at a new school things take an interesting turn as people hear her singing and began to like her purely for the voice they rarely hear, one she herself with never know.
