My breathing became labored as I sprinted around the tenth block in the last three minutes. I knew they were coming.
I knocked over a near trash can on my way by in a desperate attempt to slow them down by any means. My efforts were most likely fruitless.
Bystanders watched or cursed when I flew by. Someone threw a piece of food at me. Others watched in curiosity as I ran with four Officials running after.
"Dammit!" I cursed as my path became shorter and shorter. It was either face plant into a brick wall or play hopscotch of the interstate. The consequences both led to death by car or death by capture. Neither sounded good to me.

Her town was being raided by these monsters on black horses.... they carried long black blades stained with blood and dark hoods covering their faces. They raced recklessly through the town on their dark mounts, slashing at anyone who stood in their way. Some of them even carried torches, using them to set houses and stores alight in flames. People ran everywhere, screaming and yelling for their lost family and friends. But Mercy continued running... she had to. Until she saw a little girl, no older than seven, sitting in front of a burning building, crying. Mercy slowed, then with hesitation, walked over to the girl, avoiding being seen by the raiding party. "Whats the matter with you? You need to get out of the open." She told her. "But- but i don't know where my mommy is." The little girl sobbed. Although Mercy had lost her mother when she was fourteen, she still remembers the feeling of helplessness. "Alright. Come on... That’s when he dragged me to my feet, only eyes visible beneath his black mask. That’s when he whispered, ‘Keep still, and you won’t get hurt.’ Stupidly and feebly, I thrashed in his grip. "Cold metal was the first thing that I felt against my skin. Then came the sensation of being strapped down by my wrists and ankles. Why was I strapped down? My eyes blinked open slowly, in a daze. I saw men and women in surgical gear running around wildly. The blare of alarm pierced the fog around my mind and I saw emergency lights flashing. What was happening? I saw a woman, her brown eyes wild with fear, undo the straps on my wrists and legs. My head fell to the side and I witnessed one man pounce on the other, then a squirt of blood shoot high into the air as the first man bit into the others neck. I couldn't move without serious concentration, and even then, I could only move a little. I was helpless as I lay on this metal table. I knew that I was going to die. I was an easy target. I closed my eyes, waiting for the inevibility of the man to attack me. Nothing came though, and when I cracked my eyes open, I was alone in the room. What? Just then, I heard a loud bang and I saw a man with a gun burst through the door, an infected woman, the one who had just untied me, leaping at him. They fell into the table I was on, and the entire thing flipped. I was tossed onto the ground, landing hard. My head cracked against the concrete and everything went black, and the last sound I heard were the man's screams."Concluída
