In the old world, all colors were accepted: hair, eyes, and skin pigments. Disease spread in the gene pools, but humanity survived nonetheless.
In the new world created by Russell Imogen, genes are closely monitored. When he was born, his hair was blonde and had clear blue eyes...innocence. One day Russell noticed his hair and eyes changed dramatically to dark features... The loss of his innocence. After several doctor visits, Imogen learned he was a perfect breed.
After that day, Imogen set out and found all the people who were like him, and destroyed the ones who were not. Every new child created by his perfect breed is checked. Anyone of the children who do not transform are labeled mutants and taken to a enigmatic Headquarters and never heard from again.

Three generations into the new perfect breed, Janet Rochester is born. Blonde, blue eyes, beautiful. While growing up she watches all the people around her, friends, family and enemies, transform. After 17 years, she's still light, still pure. Even her nine year old brother has transformed.
Defects, like Janet, must be reported to Headquarters. Since her town is so tight knit, no one reports Jane. That is until Jane finds herself doing homework as soldiers knock on her door, only to whisk her away to an uncharted city- Headquarter.
Jane is thrown in with the other mutants until Imogen schedules a meeting to test her innocence. He gives her two options: change and be his pet, or stay the same and be killed. With his threat, Imogen sends in H, the irresistible soldier for all purity testing.
When H lays eyes on Jane, he realizes it's time to put their long planned uprising into action. He confides in Jane to trust only him and that in a few hours they'll run away to safety.
He leaves Jane to wonder what her future will bring? What's hiding behind H's strange brown eyes? Why does he trust her already? And will Jane ever change out of her innocence?
