Luka Holton is walking through life without feeling all too much. The only people he really talks to are his uncle Nick and his bestfriend Grey, ever since the death of his mother Luka stopped caring about a lot of things. One day he just blew up and threw a chair out of his father's office window causing him to get thrown out of his house and moving in with his uncle. Luka now is obligated to go to a support group to deal with his anger issues, always wearing headphones so none of the other group members would come up to him. That is until one day Eli Evens walks through the door and sits down right beside him.

Eli Evens is doing his community service hours for school at the hospital when he first meets Luka and knows right away that Luka Holton is going to cause some irritation but Eli can't help feeling an attraction to him. As time goes on Eli begins to see all of Luka's good qualities that he stopped showing long ago.

When a partner project causes the two to start spending time with one another they both begin to find themselves getting along and becoming real friends. But add in a group of misfits, a wild party and its after maths, some beers, surfing and a whole lot of curiosity, the lines separating friendship and needing something more begin to get blury.
