Plot: Maxwell James "Max" Xavier is a young stand up comedian dealing with his steadily declining mental health worsened further after his girlfriend dumps him for another man. This novel is part autobiographical, part satire, depicting the author's life in an exaggerated manner as well as criticizing other social issues, all the while keeping the realism of the story. The characters, however, are caricatures of the people the author knew. Not that it matters, anyway. They wouldn't care. They won't read this.

Plot: The plot focuses on an unnamed depressed apathetic writer experiencing writer's block. After the success of his critically acclaimed debut novel, The Novel, he runs out of ideas to write for another masterpiece. He goes on a journey, even having to do things he wouldn't normally do just for the sake of getting ideas, just to reclaim his lost creativity, and he also reflects his experiences in life and love. The novel is part satire, part philosophical, due to its existentialist blend inspired from the works of Camus, Sartre, Dostoyevsky, and Kafka with a mix of my trademarks—surreal and dark humor, violence, parody, satirical commentary, horror and shock value, depression, and nihilism. The Life of a Lifeless Teenager
Weirdness. That's the only word that describes the life of Jay Parker, an eighteen year old depressed student who's stuck in the absurd world called reality. The novel lacks an obvious plot, and each chapter has a different story, making it unconnected to one another. Each chapter tells the misadventures of Jay Parker, stories/poems that he wrote, and other surreal vignettes or dream sequences. The author has described this an experimental work of fiction that creates its own conventions through surrealism and dark humor. Genre: Black comedy, Surreal Comedy, Satire R-rated. Update: Start from Chapter 21 to 48 for the relationship story-arc or at Chapter 66 to 81 for the realism story-arc where I removed the surreal aspects and make it more humorous while still maintaining autobiographical elements (this is where my writing skills really peaked). Chapter 82 onward is the Allison story-arc, telling the story of Jay's girlfriend Allison Hepburn and her absurd experiences with reality, marking the first time that Jay Parker is no longer the focal character, so as to maintain accuracy to the title (since Jay is now in his twenties).Terminé
