-Aree'a is 16 years old. Her father, (Mr.Bills), doesn't understand why his daughter goes against his wishes and date a black boy. Mr. Bills isn't racist, but he'd love her to be with a fellow cuban like him. Aree'a mother, on the other hand, is white and thinks Aree'a should date whom she please. Mr. Bills wants Aree'a and Lazaro apart and he'll stop at nothing to break them apart.
-Marisol is 16 and hates her home life. She does nothing but argue with her mother. She has had enough. Her father passed away due to an verdose on drugs when she was three. Marisol is dating a guy who has a drug addiction. His name is John. Ms.Genz, (Marisol's mother), is disapproves of John and wants her back together with her ex Chad.
-Lazaro is 18 and a senior. He is also the captain of the football team. He is dating the prettiest sophomore, Aree'a. His mother loves her and is grateful they are together. Unfortunately, Lazaro father doesn't want him with Aree'a. 
-John is also 18. His mother and father both are drug addicts and they are never home. There is never food in the fridge because they spend any type of money they get on drugs. John releaves his stress by doing drugs and hanging in the streets.
