Considering I was sent here for this exact reason, to get Damien killed so I could return as a full Scarper, an urge washed over me. It rushed through my veins, it set the determined rythmn in my heart, it made me clench my fists with conviction and bravery. Damien didn't deserve to die, he was a childling. Nothing more.
Aliki is a young Scarper, she's 'payed' to do all the dirty work for the palace and forest government. Being a Scarper usually involves killing and fighting, but theres one problem though; Aliki is too nice, she wants a personal, meaningful reason to kill someone, not an order. Jasper stiffens in his seat as I press the metal of the blade against his back. "Don't say a word. Come with me, right now." Of course, he doesn't listen. I had hoped a dagger to the kidney would be incentive enough, but even the threat of death doesn't graze a Devereaux ego. He turns toward me to argue, facing away from the goon that's been eyeing him across the bar. I doubt he even noticed. The man whispers something to his sketchy friend, pointing at Jasper. No time for discussion. I grab his arm and press the tip of the knife harder, just barely breaking the skin. He winces, realizing I mean business, and gets up. The idiot prince seems to finally get the memo, running alongside me until we're a safe distance away. "What the hell was that about?" his ragged breaths take the sting out of his words. I've never seen him like this before. Cheeks red, chest heaving, hunched over himself on the stump of a tree. For once, he looks like an authentic person. Of course, this is merely an illusion. Jasper Devereaux is an arrogant, entitled dirtbag, nothing more. I can't believe I just jeopardized my favorite trade spot for him. He demands to know why I pulled a knife on him instead of just telling him he was in danger. I explain to him that the reason for the dagger was glaringly obvious if you consider the way he acted when I did use it. If he was willing to argue with a blade against his skin, there is no way he'd have left that place in good hands if I hadn't forced him to. I can't help but laugh at the audacity of him to be angry with me for how I chose to save his life. "You really haven't changed." His head snaps up at this, and I see his eyes searching my face. Of course he doesn't recognize me. For me, it was super traumatic. For him, it was just another day. "What are you going on about?" Yet another story that I cooked up, also based off of my experiences in high school, as well as my experiences with media, albeit... slightly more advanced experiences. 15 year old Jake Phyr is a knight of the nation of Vesturia, given the designation "monster hunter." And a high ranked one he is and should be, given that the nation of Vesturia is surrounded by many perils, hostile tribes, violent magical creatures and things, and people that can only be described as... "those that go bump in the night." But, in spite of all this, our hero manages... ... that is... ... until a strange mark is revealed to lie on his back. These storms are known to be dangerous for a plethora of reasons throughout the world. The Facility and all of it's holding cells & security stations deactivated and disabled due to the storm. Releasing everything without supervision. Hence, this phenomenon being called "Destabilization". Now, Monsters and deviants alike set free to roam. Some take matters into their own hands to escape. (Y/N) is a subject within the bowels of the facility, among the few who have the will to survive. I imagine him as he is now, a cold echo of himself-a captive god, shackled to the ground he once knew well. For him, and for me, time crawls in the same sluggish circle. Even at a young age, little Azura would stand beneath the thunderclouds that often visited the Sky'Lands during their journey across the Crystallin Sea, singing in a dead tongue. The chaotic beauty of the storms gave her solace, a stark contrast to the suffocating control of her makeshift family. Despite what had been promised, Azura couldn't help but feel a certain coldness each time a storm moved on without her. A coldness that only grew stronger and more present with each passing season, leaving her torn between the safety of familiarity and a longing for what lay beyond the open sea. Change had always taken something from her, bringing fear and loss of what had once been familiar. Facing change alone was terrifying, especially from the perspective of a gifted girl who had been isolated all her life. From the moment he was born, Damien's life had never been his own.
