Aubrey has secrets. And she'd like to keep those secrets. One of them being that she's a superhero, named Mystique (not from X-men). She thought her life was going somewhat ok for a, kind of aspiring scientist who decided not to pursue her major after college. She was doing just fine keeping her secret. But one day, out of the blue, her best friend Makenzie decides it's time for her to get a real job. So, Makenzie gets Aubrey a job as a science specialist at the St. Louis Police department. What could go wrong? Well, Aubrey now has to keep her superhero identity a secret from the entire St. Louis police department, which gets even more difficult since the Captain of police proclaimed they want to catch Mystique. She has to fight off bad guys, that suddenly have powers, and who seem to have an interest in her. And she has to socialize with people. Daily. Yeah, easy peasy. The rest of her life became filled with survival, retribution, and a touch of romance. Follow the life of Mystique as she unlocks the answers to her past. ------ My eyes began watering and I began losing hope and trust. If he said those things, then why stay? "I'll go." I said softly. A single drop of regret and disappointment rolled down my face.
