14 year old Kara Lee has been abused and neglected since she was only 12 years old. Her mom used to beat her, burn her, ect; whenever her father was at work. She has a younger sister named Hana. Hana and Kara have always been close. Not only were they sisters, they were best friends. Hana knew about Kara getting beaten, but she couldn't do anything to help her. Kara wouldn't let her. She couldn't stand seeing her sister get hurt. So she sticks up for her, and gets beaten so Hana doesn't have to deal with it. They come home late from school so they could have free time, before they have to stay home all day. their father found out about Kara's mother & how she's been hurting them for years. He called his sister and showed her Kara's bruises, cuts & scratches. She offered to let them stay with her. One day after school they packed and left. They moved in with their aunt, & switched schools.. Soon after that, both of their lives changed.
