Eliza Lyall and her family moved to New York City from Taunton, England when she was just two years old. They often visited Eliza's aunt and uncle during the summers. But when she was eleven  they stopped going promising to see one another soon. They never thought that the next time they saw each other would be under such horrible circumstances six years later. Now an orphan, Eliza must move back to Taunton to live with her aunt and uncle. What will happen when she sees an old friend from way back and the friend she left behind is nearly forgotten?
