The world is a hard place. This much Thea knows and with the end of her senior year coming at full speed she has one goal: get herself together. Having to mask the real state of her mental health has taken a toll on her that she can't really explain until she does.
There's always that person that leaves town right after high school that you never expect to see again... until they come back. Axel couldn't wait to leave the sleepy suburb of Amnesty, Connecticut so he did. Until his mother got sick and he didn't have years to patch things up. He thinks this town has nothing to offer him, until he meets Thea.
On the surface it looks like this town will ruin the both of them, until one night when sadness brings them to the same place and to each other. Will they be together or let the one good thing Amnesty gave them fall?

The whole camp was filling with smoke. I coughed, praying that my lungs would keep working for just a few more minutes. "Eli, which way is west?"
