Four years ago, a tragic accident landed Carrie Anderson in the hospital with amnesia, leaving her devoid of any information of her past life. And four years since the star cross-country runner and her family moved to a new town, hoping for what seems like a fresh start, for everyone's sake. It's been about two years since things have been getting back to something close to normal. In the small town of Oakville, nothing is really a secret, except for Carrie's past of course, but no one actually knows much about it. By now, it's senior year of high school, and it looks like there's a picture perfect future ahead of Carrie. A bright running career, an understanding boyfriend, great friends, and colleges scouting her out for their cross-country team. But when a person of Carrie's past life shows up and and moves to Oakville, the game plan changes completely. Now not only is she running to a finish line, she's running from her past and all things that come with it.

[TW: This book may contain strong language. Initially published in 2017.] Is 4 years enough to forget the past? To recover? To be free again from the past that haunts you? It's been 4 years since then. Since graduation. Since prom. Since "his death." Since the breakup. And I was married now. Maybe time tortures you, because you can't help but look back at your past. You can't help but sigh at what had happened to you, and you might even end up crying... If you were "Her"? Would you be able to set yourself free? ..Or will you learn "How to be a Heartbreaker"?
