This is the only work of poetry I'm putting up. I wanted to share it because I believe it's one of the, if not the, best poems that I've ever written. This was for a writing assignement in Grade 10 during our poetry unit. I hope you like it! :)

*THE SEQUEL TO IT'S A JUNGLE OUT THERE* Katniss and Peeta, alongside their friends, are determined to overthrow the fraudulent hold that Principal Snow has had on their school for the past 75 years. Arrows in the Dark
When I was eleven. My whole world changed. Katniss' dad died in a mining accident. You think it wouldn't affect me but I loved him just as much as Katniss did. Maybe even more than I loved my own father. I felt bad, that my own dad couldn't compare to Katniss'. He loved me too though. Loved me like his own. The day he died was the first in a long line of times I have ever seen Katniss cry. She never cried before then but she cried a lot after. Katniss' mother was suppose to get a job after his passing, she didn't. They were starving, dying. I decided to help. After school I would drag Katniss into the woods by her feet. We'd never gone in there without her father. It seemed like a scarier place without him. After some time it wasn't so scary. I don't know what made me volunteer for Katniss. When I heard her name echo throughout the crowd my heart stopped. It wasn't my name, but it was my best friends. There was no way she could survive in there. She had a family, a sister to take care of. I thought my parents could live without me. The name Effie called next was the only name I prayed and prayed I would never hear her say. Peeta Mellark. It's A Jungle Out There
"First things first, I did not try to kill myself." Katniss' life seems perfect. Captain of the Cheerleading Squad, amazing grades, a gorgeous boyfriend (sort of) and an extremely bright future. However, one day everything seems to fall apart as she discovers that she is flunking math and will have to repeat the course if she doesn't pass. That night she is found unconscious in her bathroom surrounded by a pills and soaked with tap water. Treated like a bomb about to go off, nobody believing her when she says it's all a misunderstanding, the only person Katniss can turn to is Peeta.
