Morrigan had a comfortable life: a kind husband who she cared for, if she didn't love; a beautiful step-daughter who adored her; and a sweet baby daughter of her own she loved. She was also the queen.

When her husband dies, rumors start circulating that Morrigan is secretly a witch and used her magic to kill him. One of her uncles leads the charge to have her arrested while another one breaks her out, charging her handmaiden to get her and her young daughter to safety. However, she is forced to leave her beloved stepdaughter, Snow White, behind and she vows to get the girl away from the people who turned on her.

The handmaiden, Hannah, introduces Morrigan to a world hidden from her by her mother: the world of magic. Arthur, the leader of a community of magical folk living deep in the woods, welcomes the two and Morrigan begins to learn the ancient magic feared and misunderstood by her people. She creates a new identity as she finds fellowship and love among these people.

Still she has one goal: Save Snow White and their kingdom.
