"Dani..." The whispers haunted her. Fallen footfalls sounded like forgotten words. The pounding of her heart was so strong it deafened her. She no longer heard anything; the blackness of the world seemed to wrap itself around her, closing into her panting mouth--the dark was a pair of hands covering her ears. She ran, she needed to escape. She didn't want the dark. She despised the night.

Her legs flew her away, away, away...

Right to the flashing light, a braking screech, and a looming shadow of the man that ran her over.

"You know I adore you, Roman..." Her soft voice were sharp nails digging into his heart, clawing out the very beating, bloody thing that kept him alive. He loathed her so much that the thin line between love and hate blurred into oblivion.

His foot pressed the gas pedal just a bit harder, nudging the car to speed down the road. Faster and faster, until a woman darted in front faster than he could stop. Her body fluttered to the ground like it was weightless. He rushed to the unconscious figure lying on the pavement.

He couldn't breathe.

She was like a butterfly; fragile, beautiful, and enchanting--flying away if your eyes stayed a moment too long.

Too bad he didn't know she alone would cause storms that would thunder his world.

His finger trailed up my thigh ever so gently causing my pussy complete torture. He knew what he was doing. He knew this was driving me completely crazy. Just as his fingers were trying to push past my underwear my hand grabbed onto his wrist. "Don't," I warned, in a low voice making sure nobody would notice. "Watch me fuck you in front of every single person here unless Tobias stops looking at you like that." He explained. I glanced over to Tobias who was looking angrier than ever. If Tobias didn't stop looking at me not only would my husband keep to his word, someone would send a bullet through his skull. *+*+* Scarlett Salvadore was to be married to a man she hated with all her heart to increase her father's power. In fact, you've always belonged to me, before and after the wedding ring on that finger of yours." I rolled my eyes at his words, still not forgetting the things he said to me before. "I'm just as much yours as you are mine, and don't you forget it, Aleksander." I snapped, pointing at his hard chest. "Prove it." A smirk appeared on my lips. "Loving you is exhausting and hard. Give me a freaking break." he said. "Then why are you still here?", she whispered with a pale and trembling voice, holding back the tears that were willing to fall down her cheeks. Laura never wanted to fall in love with someone she couldn't touch - someone who only existed behind a screen, a voice borne by time zones and poor connections. But Evan made distance seem hazardous. He made every silence burn. "You could've stopped talking to me." she said to him once. "I tried," he said. "You just wouldn't leave my fucking head." Somewhere in between their late-night phone calls and the words they never spoke, something real started to take shape - delicate, wrong, and beautiful. But love such as theirs was going to shatter. It was constructed on waiting, on jealousy, on all the things they couldn't have. And maybe that's the cruelest kind of love - the kind that feels infinite, but ends the moment you wake up. Until Aiden walked in - the man who was real, present, and everything Evan couldn't be. Aman who had actually been beside her even when she broke his heart, even when she drifted away to chase someone who made her heart ache in ways she never imagined. "He doesn't deserve you. please wake up Lau." Aiden told her. "Then why does it still feel like he's the one?" she whispered. "You're crazy." Somewhere between what she wanted and what she needed, Laura lost control. Between time zones and heartbreak, between messages and memories, something between them had shattered. Because sometimes, love doesn't ask you to choose between two people - it asks you to choose which part of yourself you're willing to destroy.

*MAJOR TW* There are scenes of death, blood, gore, attempted rape, sexual scenes, betrayals, zombies, etc! Dani has lost everything-her family, her friends, her future. Even before the collapse, her world was already crumbling when she discovered her husband's betrayal. Now, alone in the ruins of civilization, trust is a luxury she can't afford. Survival is all that matters... until she's ambushed and nearly destroyed by the cruelty of others. That's when he finds her. A silent guardian with a bow and blades, the stranger saves her life-but not out of kindness. Hardened by loss and betrayal of his own, he keeps his distance, both emotionally and physically. The world has no place for softness, and certainly no place for love. But as the days stretch into weeks, and the silence between them begins to speak, Dani and her reluctant protector find something unexpected in the wreckage: hope. Scarred by the past, shaped by the fall, they must decide if trusting each other is a risk worth taking-and if love can rise from the ashes of a broken world.
