This senior year, Beacon Hills High is buzzing, but for Stiles Stilinski, life remains largely on the sidelines.
An openly gay academic powerhouse, Stiles finds solace only with his best friends, Malia and Liam, and on the lacrosse bench. His world revolves around a years-long, secret crush on the school's magnetic, openly bisexual lacrosse captain, Scott McCall-a crush Stiles is certain is one-sided, as they've never exchanged a single word.
Stiles, who was taken in by his father's deputy, Derek Hale, after his dad's passing, has always felt an invisible wall between himself and the popular crowd. However, when fate (or perhaps a history teacher) throws Scott and Stiles together for a class project, and Scott surprisingly knows Stiles' name, Stiles' friends are convinced it's a sign.
With the winter formal on the horizon, Stiles is pushed to the precipice: Will he dare to ask Scott to the dance, risking his heart, or will he retreat into his familiar invisibility and miss his shot at happiness?
