Dan was subscribed to Phil's Youtube account, and followed him on twitter, then began replying to some of Phil's tweets. So for example, if Phil tweeted something about Muse, Dan replied saying that he also loved Muse. Phil then said that it seemed they had a lot in common, and wondered if Dan wanted to start skypeing. Then they decided to meet up, and it was Phil who talked Dan into making Youtube videos. And now, they're living together in London and are best friends. But what if that never happened and Dan Never followed Phil.
