Highest Rankings: 115 in first person I was just a simple sophomore. I hung out with my friends, played sports, got straight A's, my life seemed to have everything that I wanted, until I saw her. She was super quiet, she probably went unnoticed a lot, but she's so super pretty, super smart, she had a lot of classes with me, and she even did some of the same after school activities as me, she's so perfect. I realized that she is super social around her friends and she doesn't care what people think of her. She always wears big, black glasses and, most of the time, oversized t-shirts with the front tucked in. 18 year old Vance Hopper was super into rock, metal, and all that kind of music. He even picked up drums and electric guitar, of course only playing when he was at his best friend's apartment due to his abusive father not allowing any of that stuff in his home. Surprisingly he had a crush on someone. Someone who's practically the opposite of him. Meanwhile, 17 year old Bruce Yamada is in the top orchestra, along with the top of his class, on violin. He's sorta into classical music, but never really listened to it outside of class and practice. Concerts always gave him a kick of energy, but after a while he wanted more, and his girlfriend was no help. She was plain, kinda boring, and was a goody-two shoes like Bruce. Ms. Emma says, and I look up to see an emotion I hate. Empathy. I don't want her sympathy. So I changed the topic and answered the second question. "And I don't like the band because they all like her. The weirdo. She's always happy, always talking with everyone as if they are the most special person in the world, she's happy about playing more music than any of us needs to. She's so weird that it's like she's popular. She's not normal, not right. All I want to say is pair me up with anyone but her. I hate her, Ms. Emma." Ms. Emma just looks at me like I am the weird one. "And who, pray tell, is that Jace?" I was a little shocked she didn't know. Or maybe she did and she wanted to hear me say it. So I said her name just to make her happy. "Astrid." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jace Vaughn hates Astrid. All because she is weird. Or maybe he is jealous because of how "easy" her life seems to be. He's always getting bullied by his supposed loved ones, and his favorite person in the world left him unwillingly. When a band project and a few mean words make Jace and Astrid's fates intertwine, can Jace forget his hate and learn to be friends with a musically nerdy girl? and maybe, just maybe, can he learn to love again?
