Jeremy Bennet's job as boatswain aboard the Goliath was all he ever thought about. With no family or friends besides his crew mate Oliver Jones, Bennet could not imagine life without the sea until one night during a raging storm, the Goliath is attacked by a vile creature killing everyone aboard. Just as Bennet is about to be murdered by the creature, a mysterious being saves his life and lands on a mysterious island. He doesn't care much about the world, he doesn't care about the women who approach him all the times, he doesn't care about the mockeries he receives regularly because of his hideous sunglasses, he doesn't mind, because he knows the pain, he knows it deeply. Both are solitary birds seeking a shoulder to lean on without even knowing it.
