That is what Kierran Caradoc did when the love of his life was stolen from him by a drunk driving accident. Devastated and desperate to see her again, Kierran was visited by the Greek God of nightmares, Phobetor whom appeared in one of his dreams. Phobetor presented him an offer; He would grant Kierran the ability to see and touch his dead lover in the form of a dream, if Kierran sold him his heart. Without much debate, Kierran agreed.

Phobetor gave him three simple reminders;
1. The longer Kierran stays in the alternate world, the more madness occurs.
2. Everything inside Kierrans' mind will be presented in the world.
and finally, if any mortal enters the dream world, all will be lost.
