In the summer of 1975, the Ambassadors embarked on a cross-country tour of the United States, in what would become known as the most famous - and infamous - tour in rock and roll history. Forty years later, the band is preparing to recreate their legendary tour, but it won't be as simple as just getting the band back together.

Frances Carmichael is happily settled down, working as a journalist and living a perfectly ordinary life. But once upon a time, she called herself Frankie, and was the leader of the Lost Girls - the groupies who toured with the biggest names in rock and roll. When the lead singer of the Ambassadors calls her out of the blue and invites her along for the reunion tour, Frances can't resist the chance to relive her wild youth. But it's been a long time, and she won't be the only one tagging along for the ride - this time, the Ambassadors will be sharing the stage with a new, younger band, and the fans that come with them.

Thrown back into the exhilarating and sometimes dangerous life on the road, Frances watches a new band experience the same highs and lows that their predecessors went through in the seventies, relives her own not-so-rosy memories from her past, and finds herself responsible for a new generation of Lost Girls.
